Know Yourself; Remember Your Past
The theory of past lives past karma reincarnation and other births that
the soul goes through is dictated by the Hindu philosophy of karma (deeds)
and athma (soul). According to the Hindu religious scriptures, the soul is
indestructible and it merely changes its form or body the way a human
being changes his clothes after they have outlived their useful years.
This is very different from Christianity's theory of past karma
reincarnation, which focuses on Christ's resurrection. For the Hindus,
past karma reincarnation can happen for the soul such that the soul takes
the form of a woman, man or animal, and the karma or the deeds in the
present life will shape what kind of life someone will have in his or her
next life.
Several Hindu scriptures talk very much about past lives past karma
reincarnation. Most notable among these is the Bhrigu Sanhita. This
scripture apparently had a complete accounting of the future and past
births of all souls living; it's unfortunate, then, that the scripture has
been lost to the ages.
The most compelling modern day account of rebirth is the collection of
data by Dr, Ian Stevenson. Modern; science still frowns on the claims of
rebirth so it certainly cannot be stated that it is the most well
respected source of scientific information on the theory; however, it is
certainly the most famous and well documented because De. Stevenson was a
psychiatrist with a degree in medicine.
Unlike today's past life regression therapists, Dr. Stevenson didn't use
hypnosis or other trance inducing techniques on his subjects. Instead, the
collection of data he amassed is completely based on children who
spontaneously recalled incidents in past lives.
Among his most well noted and perplexing cases was that of a young boy of
6 years from a tiny village in Punjab who claimed to have been a man named
Satnam Singh; The young boy had never lived or been to the village of
Chakkchela where he claimed to have lived; he could describe the place
with an alarming sense of clarity.
Even though many psychiatrists; most notably among them, Dr Brian Weiss
who is considered to be the father of past life regression and several
others eminent authorities on psychiatry and psychology are inclined to
believe the concept of rebirth, science at large is extremely skeptical
about it. However, it may also be worthwhile to state here that many
people have experienced a sudden disappearance of life long fears and
phobias after a few sessions of past life regression therapy.
There is much speculation concerning past karma reincarnation regression
and its significance. Down through the centuries many different religions
and cultures have focused on this concept and documented their finding.
The soul is everlasting, immortal, which naturally leads to many
questions. The belief is that the soul of an individual can be reborn into
a new body. While in this body there is a recall of memories concerning
the lifetime before entering the new body.
This process can be jump started from a number of different sources. One
of the most common methods is the use of hypnotism. When a person is
placed in this form of trance, there is a belief they are taken to a
higher plane that allows them to experience a spiritual awakening that can
begin to allow all the past experiences of the soul to come back in.
In some cases, this allows the person the ability to explore several
different lifetimes embedded in the memories. He or she may recall
fundamental occurrences such as the deaths of the body associated with any
particular previous lifetime. For some individuals this helps with
explaining any fears they may face in their present lifetime. This is
because his or her soul has experienced those deaths in the past.
The family tried
to dissuade the boy from making these claims, but he nonetheless continue
to do so. He even revealed the name of Satnam's father. The boy claimed
that he, Satnam, had been killed in a motorcycle accident when he was on
his way home from school. This claim was investigated, and it was indeed
found that the man had been killed in just the way the young boy
described. He also revealed other intimate details about the family, but
the most startling aspect of his past karma reincarnation claims was that
when the young boy's and Satnam Singh's handwriting was compared, it was
found to be identical.
Stevenson had another subject as well, by the name of Swarnalata.
Swarnalata was three years old, and said that she had lived before, as a
young woman named Biya Pathak. The little girl minutely described the
house that she had lived in and took her own father to the property when
they were out one day. The child said that she had lived there and that a
better cup of tea was to be had in that house than they could get on the
road. Further, the little girl recognized Biya's brother and even called
him by his pet name in front of nine people.
Stevenson's files contain literally dozens of these cases. He also states
that it can often happen that a trauma in the last birth can take form in
the next life as a birthmark. One subject certainly had this happen to
him. He recalled that he was his deceased maternal uncle, and a scar on
his head proved to be a match to the knife wound his uncle had died from,
also on his uncle's head in the same location.
Another case from Stevenson's files was very astonishing as well; with
that, a little boy claimed that he was a man named MahaRam; MahaRam had
been shot and killed at very close range, in the chest. What was amazing
was that this young boy displayed birthmarks on his chest that looked like
gunshot wound scars.
During the hypnotic process, the person never enters an unconscious state.
During the process, individuals have their thought processes channelled to
help them focus on various aspects.
While in this state of trance, the person performing the hypnosis will
begin to ask specific questions of the past, and trying to focus on the
various rebirths that the present soul has gone through. There are times
in this process that startling information might arise, and can be the
cause of other triggers in the present life.
For many individuals this is a great method that offers interesting
results. Again, sceptics may step in to point out that this method may
simply persuade those under hypnosis to believe that the results are only
responses provoked and that the body will naturally react to such
stimulation.
Sounds, smells and words can trigger the answers in regression for many
people. For instance, the scents of a home cooked meal or even while
watching a favourite television broadcast, can make us recall events from
a past life that we may not have remembered before. This can cause fear;
however, upon exploring such experiences, we are able to find truth
concerning our own past karma reincarnation regression. Such a discovery
can lead to a stronger knowledge and understanding within this field of
study.
Sometimes our system of belief may prevent us from opening up to the
possibilities of our past karma reincarnation regression process. Our
reactions that are based on our belief system can cause blockages or even
build walls that prevent us from getting the results we seek. This may be
because our spiritual belief system may cause us to fear the solutions of
unanswered questions.
However, keep in mind that this process is not one of questioning any type
of faith. It is a process that can help us openly embrace the various
possibilities of being in a state of regression. The process does not have
anything to do with evil or black magic. It does involve the ability to
understand how natural it is to have lived a past life or even more than
one. This process can be helpful for reducing fears and concerns that one
may face and not understand in this life time. In order to find
understanding and inner peace, it is essential to come to terms with any
issue concerning living a past life.
Sceptics may think that this type of
information is forces upon the individual while under hypnosis. They think
that many of these ideas are planted in the mind while someone is
undergoing such a process. This is of course, not true. While personally
witnessing the complete process, one is better able to understand that
such thoughts and claims are not true and have no basis of truth.
During a person's first session, they are usually placed in a trance and
asked some basic question in order to better understand the life they are
currently experiencing. During studies, it is reported that an individual
can give an accurate account of a past life, providing details of certain
events that took place. During future sessions, this same information is
again provided, even though entirely different questions are asked.
Using another method, that of hypo-kinesiology can also trigger past karma
reincarnation regression. During this process testing muscles is
incorporated into the process of general hypnosis. During this process,
the reflexes of muscles are check to determine whether there are any past
life secrets. |
