Reincarnation; Finding Clues to Your Present in Your Past
The theory of Reincarnation and other births that the soul goes through is
dictated by the Hindu philosophy of karma (deeds) and athma (soul).
According to the Hindu religious scriptures, the soul is indestructible
and it merely changes its form or body the way a human being changes his
clothes after they have outlived their useful years.
Christianity has a very different viewpoint of reincarnation, focusing on
Christ's resurrection instead. In Hinduism, the soul can inhabit any form,
woman, man, even animal. The karma, or deeds of the human being, dictate
what the next life will hold for that person.
Hindu religious scriptures talk about Reincarnations; a central scripture
is the Bhrigu Sanhita. This scripture apparently has an accounting of all
living souls births, past and future, but it has unfortunately been lost
to the ages.
Most compellingly, Dr. Ian Stevenson has collected modern rebirth data.
Although scientists still frown on the claims of rebirth, such that it
cannot be said that modern science respects so-called \"scientific
information\" on reincarnation theory, Stevenson's work is the most
well-documented and famous; not least, that was because Dr. Stevenson had
a degree in medicine and was a psychiatrist.
Dr. Stevenson didn't put patients under trances or into hypnotic states,
however, as many modern day past life regression therapists do. Instead,
he simply interviewed children who spontaneously recalled things they had
experienced in past lives.
Most noted and perplexing among these cases was that of a small child, a
boy, six years old, from a small village in Punjab. This child claimed
that he had been a man named Satnam Singh; further, he could vividly
describe the man's village of Chakkchela, even though the boy had never
actually been there.
The family tried to dissuade the boy from making these claims, but he
nonetheless continue to do so. He even revealed the name of Satnam's
father. The boy claimed that he, Satnam, had been killed in a motorcycle
accident when he was on his way home from school. This claim was
investigated, and it was indeed found that the man had been killed in just
the way the young boy described. He also revealed other intimate details
about the family, but the most startling aspect of his reincarnation
claims was that when the young boy's and Satnam Singh's handwriting was
compared, it was found to be identical.
Another startling case from Stevenson's files involved that of a young
girl, three years old, named Swarnalata. This child remembered that she
had been a young woman named Biya Pathak, and could vividly described the
house that she lived in. In fact, when she and her father were traveling
one day, she led her father directly to the property and even said that
she had lived in the area; further, she said that they could get a better
cup of tea in that house than they could on the road. Her recollections
were completely validated, however, when the little girl recognized the
young woman's brother, and addressed him by a pet name the young woman had
had for him, from a group of nine people.
These are not the only two, and Stevenson lists dozens of these types of
cases in his papers. He also found that if an injury is caused by trauma
in the last life, it can become a birthmark for the next one. For example,
a man from Thailand thought himself his own uncle, who had passed away and
was now himself, reincarnated. A scar on his head matched a knife wound
that his maternal uncle had died from in that very area.
Another child claimed that he had been a man named MahaRam, who had been
killed by close range shots to the chest area. And in fact, the child had
birthmarks on his chest that looked like they could have been bullet wound
scars.
Many psychiatrists are in agreement that past life regression or the
concept of rebirth may exist, most notably Dr. Brian Weiss, who is
considered the modern father of past life regression. Nonetheless, science
remains very skeptical about this concept. Even so, it should be noted
that many people have experienced relief from lifelong phobias or fears
after they've undergone past life regression therapy.
Through history, there have been documented reports that different
religious and cultures believe that the soul is immortal. It is believed
that every person is reborn into a new body and the present body can
recall experiences from the previous lifetime through reincarnation
regression. However, there is speculation about whether or not there is
any significance behind reincarnation regression.
There are a number of ways to jump start this process, with the most
common being hypnotism. When an individuals is put into a trance, it is
believed they evolve to a higher plane which allows them have a spiritual
awakening. It is these spiritual awakening that allows the soul's past
experiences to return.
There have been some cases than an individual has been able to explore
several different lifetimes in their memory. They recall pivotal moments
and the deaths of the body that was associated with those lives. For some,
this helps to explain fears that they have in the present life, as the
previous deaths were ones that the soul had experienced in the past.
It is significant to note that when in a hypnotic state, the individual is
not actually unconscious. Rather this method channels the thought
processes and allows the individual to focus on particular aspects.
While an individual is in a trance, the hypnotist will ask specific
questions regarding the past, focusing on rebirths the present soul has
experienced. During this process, there are times that rather startling
information is revealed that could be what causes certain triggers in the
present lifetime.
It is very important to note that while some skeptics believe that the
information may be forced from the individual, and created through a
series of implanted ideas. Those who have witnessed the entire processing
of an individual have found that it is anything but.
During a person's first session, they are usually placed in a trance and
asked some basic question in order to better understand the life they are
currently experiencing. During studies, it is reported that an individual
can give an accurate account of a past life, providing details of certain
events that took place. During future sessions, this same information is
again provided, even though entirely different questions are asked.
Another method that is often used for reincarnation regression is known as
hypno-kinesiology. This process was designed to combine muscle testing
with general hypnosis. While they are in the hypnotic stage, they are
checked for any variances of their reflexes to help determine their past
life secrets.
For many individuals this is a great method that offers interesting
results. Again, skeptics may step in to point out that this method may
simply persuade those under hypnosis to believe that the results are only
responses provoked and that the body will naturally react to such
stimulation.
While in regression, different words, scents and sounds can trigger past
life memories. The scent of bread baking in an oven, hearing an old song
and many other things can trigger these memories of events from a past
life. For some, this can cause fear. However, taking the time to learn
from such experiences can bring on the truth of such reincarnation
regression processes. This can lead to a better understanding and
knowledge associated with this field of study.
There are times when our beliefs and reactions create walls that prevent
us from opening our hearts and minds to the entire process of
reincarnation regression. Some fear that when this occurs, our spiritual
belief system contains more unanswered questions than solutions.
It is important for the person who is interested in reincarnation
regression to avoid questioning their current level of faith, and instead
embrace the possibility that the understanding of the regression can give
them. It is far from Black Magic or an evil practice. Instead, it is a
journey of enlightenment that can take a person and expel some of their
fears and concerns that they have in life. In fact, it can be a way of
helping them come to terms with their own existence, and allow their inner
soul to find the peace it has been searching for. |
